December 28, 2002
- Thanks everyone for coming out to all of our gigs recently. Be sure and catch DSR LIVE on new year's eve @ Trucker John's house in Lynnwood (see 'SHOWS' page for details)
- The album is still being pressed, etc. but local radio stations HAVE been sent promo copies. Be sure to call in constantly to remind them how much you want to hear American Sick-O by DragStrip Riot! Leon Burman has already been spinning 36 Inch Wheels Of Death on the Shakin' the Shack show, so tune in to 90.3 KEXP on Friday nights (between 6 and 9pm) to hear DSR. Start those phones a-ringin'!
December 13, 2002
So much happens in a month!
- The album is mastered and gets shipped off for pressing this week. However, the release date has been pushed back to January.
- The last Doc Maynards gig was a blast, despite two very out of place opening bands. The Swains had to cancel and were replaced by some rap-rock band called Full Tilt Audio outfitted in bandanas and "Playaz" jerseys! They got kicked out before the end of the night for drunken misconduct. Not a good way to impress the management at one of your FIRST gigs! Next up was DC & The Washingtons; they had really catchy songs but the music was about as different from ours as you can get. By the time we hit the stage, the audience was relieved to have their ears boxed with a little attitude-inspired rock'n'roll. THIS time we've got a hell of a line-up: us, the All American Playboys and St. Christopher opening things up. Be sure you don't miss this show (tonight... Dec. 13th).
- Three new songs are up on the site - "One Day Closer" penned by our resident drum god, Frosty. We'll be premiering it at tonight's show along with Knuck's new Christmas anthem "I'll Be Broke For Christmas". If you've attended any of the recent shows you're familiar with the next "new" song posted on the site - SickBoy's ode to rump rompin' "The Backdoor Boogie".
November 20, 2002
- Thank you to Bart & The Marina Cantina for another great night. Lonesome Teardrops were fabulous and the crowd was pretty amped. We love playing that place! Footage was shot at both shows (by Doug Jordan) for use in an upcoming video. More news at 11.
- Final mastering will occur this Friday w/ Mel Detmer at the helm. The album is so close to coming out you can almost smell it. Artwork is nearing completion... One more thing to do and then it's finished. Posters and other such goodies will come out at the same time as the cd release.
- DSR is headlining a gig w/ The Swains at Doc Maynards in Pioneer Square this Saturday. So get your asses down there and help us tear the place apart.
November 04, 2002
- After last weekend DSR is really considering covering "Against All Odds"! Things started off with all the bandmembers trying to get personal errands done before heading up to Canada so we were all running late. Then the van was having issues so we had to purchase a fuel pump just in case. Knuck had a horrible case of laryngitis and could barely speak but miraculously was able to sing most of the songs. SickBoy broke his D string 3 songs into the set w/ no backup guitar. Big John graciously put the band up for a night and Bad Pat is still a crappy little bastard. On the second night El Dorado opened and they were amazing as usual (and lead singer Angela was as wonderful as ever.) Motor Mike filled in for El Dorado on bass as their bassist was out sick and after already doing one set Motor Mike had blisters on his fingers by the time DSR hit the stage. SickBoy had to play acoustic as no extra electrics were available (some issues with volume resulted but were quickly taken care of), Knuck's voice was in really bad shape and the borrowed Gretsch he was playing had a couple issues. But despite all obstacles the band persevered and did our full set. Folks in the audience said Knuck sounded fine despite his struggling to even get a sound out. Overall we had a blast and found it hard to have to come back home. Thanks again to Keri-Anne for putting us up; you are so incredibly generous and we are in your debt. See you all at the Marina Cantina this Saturday!
October 28, 2002
- Lately DSR has been taking a break from playing shows and working on some new material. We've got 3 new songs for on the way for you - "Nothing Is Cool", "The Country Song", and "Hatefuck". A new cover song has been added to the set list for future performances.
- See you all in Canada on Nov. 01 & 02!
October 07, 2002
- Great show last Saturday! A personal best for the band, and yet another new song was performed - "Bartender!". The house was packed pretty full, the women all had fake tans, the band beer was $3.00 a pop (ripoff), and All American Playboys starting things off just perfectly.
- The band went in for more mixing yesterday, and with a few minor EQ adjustments it will all be done. We'll keep you posted.
September 26, 2002
- Bellingham sucked! A big "FUCK YOU" to The Factory for not promoting the show and for booking a shitty funk band to open. You've now been black-listed! But thank you to our friends who did come down: Angelatini, Monnie and whoever that dude was.
- The album art is nearing completion and we will be reviewing final mixes on some of the material this weekend.
September 17, 2002
- DSR will be in Bellingham this coming weekend. Hopefully the crowd can keep the beer in their cheeks this time! For you wimps in Seattle that don't want to make the trek, come support us next Weds. @ The Central in Pioneer Square.
- Go-Kustom is preparing the ads to promote the DSR album in national publications. Here's an ad you'll see very soon in upcoming issues of Barracuda Magazine. The lovely Sheri Johnson of Go-Kustom is modeling the latest fashion in record collections.
September 09, 2002
- Thank you to the Spectres for all the good times and good luck to J.R. in California.
- Our crowd at The Sunset was great. Definitely one of our favorite places to play. See everyone in Bellingham (yeah right!)
September 01, 2002
- The recording process is done! Now on to mixing, mastering and pressing. The album is slated for release in late October / early November.
- Stanwood was a great time. The new songs came off (almost) without a hitch and the crowd was energized. Thanks to everyone who came out, especially the beautiful ladies dancing in the crowd.
August 23, 2002
- The band spent tonight working out the kinks on new songs "Trouble Bound" and "Bad Bad Man". So those of you heading out to Stanwood to catch the show will see a couple brand-spankin' new songs. These are two of our best numbers yet... Motor Mike's mom said so!
August 15, 2002
- New show added! DSR will be joining the Spectres for their last gig at the Sunset on Sept. 07 so come down and send the boys off appropriately! Ya just don't know what you've got until it's gone...
- New songs added to lyrics section (under Music link): A new country blues influenced song by Knuck called "Trouble Bound", a song by Frosty which has brought us to a whole new level of evil; "Hatefuck", and Knuck's personal theme song "Bad Bad Man". Study those words kiddies so you can sing along with us at future shows.
August 13, 2002
- Knuck's ramblings: Everett... we won't talk about the Everett show. The Freemont Dock show was amazing! Despite the fact that the PA was so bad it must've been powered by an Atari, DSR was in fine form. The PA system overheated and turned itself off half way through every song (until the last 3) so many songs became pseudo-instrumentals. We premiered the new song DragStrip Riot (Let's Go Fight!) w/ Sickboy Dan on vocals to much applause and the crowd helped sing along on American Sick-O once the monitors went out. The evening was a family reunion of sorts with all 5 original members of Frosty & Knuck's old punk band, Orange 42 in the building. Jeff Warner, Nate Uran, Jim Chamberlain, Frosty & Knuck have not been in the same room together since 1994 so the mood was energetic to say the least. The show overall was high energy and the set ended with a cover of "Where Eagles Dare". Former bandmate Jim Chamberlain helped out with some of the screaming as well as spilling beer everywhere. Graveyard Shift played a short set - Having just finished a set at Zak's earlier, Chad was exhausted and Ben was bleeding through the tape on his fingers. They still pulled off a great set. The Spectres... oh, we're going to miss the Spectres this having been their 2nd to last show. They sounded great despite J.R. playing with one arm (motorcycle accident). It's been a good ride boys, hope we get to play the reunion! See all you fuckers out at the Hotrod-A-Rama.
August 06, 2002
- New show added! DSR will be heading up to Everett on Friday August 09 for another out of town and outta sight show w/ All American Playboys
- Live photos page has been revamped. Added pictures from DSR's very first performance, first show in Sedro, Halloween @ The Crocodile, Legends in West Seattle, and a slew of incredible shots taken by Vetala Hawkins during recent performances at Graceland and The Central. Also, check the Band link for updates on both the members page and the individual profiles. Oh... and have you noticed there's a new song for you to listen to under the Sounds link? Check it out!
July 30, 2002
- New shows added! California here we come... Yup. A lot of exciting things happening. We'll be heading down the west coast in October and doing lots of stuff around the Seattle area. Keep a close eye on our SHOWS link for details.
July 28, 2002
- Links page has been revamped. You can now check out all the stuff the band is into... or you could send us pin-up pictures! (Uhh... no guys.)
July 26, 2002
- The time slot for the Aug 17 performance has changed to 2pm. See shows page for full schedule.
July 24, 2002
- Recording and more recording... Last weekend the band met at the studio to lay down some vocals, some guitar, some bass, and a bit of Frosty screaming his ass off. Tonight SickBoy and Knuck layed down lead vocals on 5 of the unfinished tracks. Yes, that's right... SickBoy will be singin' lead on one of the tracks on the impending release.
- The date of our appearance in Stanwood has changed from August 10 to August 31. Rumor has it we'll be joined by The Apocalypsticks, which includes Seattle's favorite rokken front woman Majenta.
- Wheels are now in motion planning our first video. Two beautiful women have agreed to make an appearance and American Sick-O is a very good contender.
July 14, 2002
- DSR got under the mic's again to record base tracks for a bunch of songs today. With d.A. Sebasstian at the helm, DSR committed the following tunes to tape: Showbiz, Afterburner, She's All Talk, Drag Strip Riot (Let's Go Fight!), Suspicions, The Damage Done, and We Drank 'Til You Got Pretty. Another session is planned for next weekend.
- Bellingham was a great time! We rolled in to town to find out that the venue had over-booked the show with 4 bands. Shakey opened the show with their blend of bad music and camouflage-like stage presence. DSR then "mounted" the stage and proceeded to give the town the nice hard fucking it needed. With the dance floor crowded and beer showers aplenty we powered through just the fast ones. All American Playboys took over after that and turned the place on it's ear with a lil' bit of soul. Then the Pulltab Playboys (yeah, two Playboys bands on one bill) rounded out the night with some hit and miss country originals and covers. Thanks again to AAP for inviting us out. Can't say enough good things about that band.
July 12, 2002
- 2 new shows added! We'll be in Bellingham tonight and Stanwood on Aug. 10.
July 10, 2002
- Everett, the land of mullets and trashy bars. DSR had a good time playing with Suicide Doors and ESPECIALLY All American Playboys who never fail to put on a great show. A thank you to all our friends who made the trek out there (thank you to the beautiful Heather for showin' them Everett folk how to have a good time) and whoopin' it up with us. There will be many shows with AAP in the future, you can count on it.
- No shows have been scheduled between now and August though that may change soon. Keep your eyes peeled for future dates.
- The band goes back into the studio this weekend to lay down tracks for the rest of the songs on the album.
July 04, 2002
- A few new songs added in the music/lyrics section. 1. DragStrip Riot (Let's Go Fight) penned by Sickboy, 2. Bad, Bad Man by Knuck. Sickboy's profile is on it's way... the webmassa is just waiting for a shot of his pretty little mug.
- Knuck announces Terrorist Hunting Season. The first person to find a terrorist, kill him/her and bring his/her head to a show will get a free beer! "If you're running down my country man, you're walking on the fighting side of me." Yes, Redneck Girlfriend will continue to play that cover song but it's only fitting that the chorus be posted here.
June 28, 2002
- We had fun playing the Central last night, despite another boring fucking crowd. Thanks to a few of our fans for showing up on time, thanks to Lisa for shakin' her groove thing and trying to inspire the crowd. Hell, the band was inspired just lookin' at her! Next stop... Everett!
June 24, 2002
- Another gig added in the SHOWS section. This time we're heading up to Everett to do a little mullet hunting.
- DSR recorded "Fast Cars & Fast Women" for Go-Kustom's "A Tribute to She-Devils" compilation set for release in a few months. The band has made the decision to allign ourselves with Go-Kustom records going forward. With this company we'll have a local contact person for the label, a place to record, a video production studio and a tight-knit crew helping to promote us. Not to mention that d.A. knows lots of good looking goth chicks!
- The Graceland show was a blast! A pretty good turnout despite Demented Are Go cancelling. Sickboy Dan made his first live appearance with us and did a hell of a job. The sound was perfect and the show was a personal best for the band. You can bet you'll be seeing Sickboy at plenty more shows to come.
June 19, 2002
- *LAST MINUTE SHOW ADDITION* DSR has been added to the line-up at Graceland THIS Saturday, June 22. The show is rounded out by Graveyard Shift, The Spectres and The Deadcats. Demented Are Go will not be appearing unfortunately, but we are definitely looking forward to sharing a stage with GYS again. It's been a while!
- Album update: Our engineer promises mixing will be done in 2 weeks. (Well it's about fucking time!) He has been working on multiple projects in addition to his equipment being tied up by co-workers for a month or more. The artwork / layout are done so we are just waiting for the master to be placed in our grubby little hands.
- A personal note from Knuck: "The June 17 show sucked ass. The venue sent the wrong info to print, had incorrect info on the flyers and no one came. Almost makes me want to say FUCK playing all ages gigs. Please, someone convince me otherwise cuz for a minute there I thought it would be cool to give the under-agers something to do for a night. Whoever suggested the Accidents be on the bill should go get into one! heh heh. A ska/punk band opening for hotrod rock & roll, psychobilly, and fast-tempo rock-a-billy? WTF!? My condolences to Brandee of 44 Productions. She did work hard and things just kind of fell apart on her due to the extreme incompetence of the venue. Rocket 350 fucking smoked! I love those guys. Hope the rest of the tour goes well. The Spectres actually played a great set despite the lack of a crowd. They were mic'd just right this time. Oh yeah, and DSR played pretty well but once again had our amps up too damn loud. The last Stella's show (which truly was the LAST Stella's show) was an exercise in futility as well. No one is willing to drive that far for a show and the audience was boring, but the pizza was great! The Hangmen were cool and I'm really digging playing out with the Spectres. Great bunch of guys and it's a band I enjoy watching when I'm done playin'. Hope some people get off their asses at this Saturday's show!"
June 08, 2002
- The Go-Kustom interview will air on Sunday, June 30 at 10:30pm on Public Access (channel 77 in some areas).
- For those attending tonight's show at Stella's, keep your ears open for two new songs! With one of the new songs DSR has now branched into cowboy territory...
June 07, 2002
- Alright you slimes... New gigs added in the shows section. We'll finally be sharing a stage with Redneck Girlfriend at The Central on June 28. Added info regarding the August 17 Hotrod-A-Rama show as well. Don't forget to come out and support your favorite deviants this weekend (June 08) at Stella's and at our first ALL AGES show on June 17 at the Paradox.
- Keep your eyes peeled for the Go-Kustom interview with DragStrip Riot showing some time this weekend on public access.
June 03, 2002
- Time for an update! Ok so the BBQ Bop went well. There was much debate over how we would perform the show. At first it was thought that Moose wouldn't be able to make it. Motor Mike was not quite ready for prime time and opted to wait for the next performance. Frosty and Knuck planned on doing an acoustic performance which the promoters were a bit sketchy about. At the last minute, Moose was able to make it. He had to pay $130 to cross the border as a result of the company he keeps and their shady pasts (haha)! He was quite ill but went on with the show anyway. With Moose playing bass and Knuck handling all guitar duties the show went on in front of a sold-out crowd.
- DSR then played its first show with Motor Mike on bass to a friggin' tiny audience at Stella's in Georgetown. Moose was not able to make this show due to work scheduling conflicts and Knuck once again handled all guitar duties. Before the show, the band was interviewed for Go-Kustom t.v. which will appear on public access in Seattle NEXT weekend (either June 07 or June 08) and on t.v. in Los Angeles in the near future. Captures from the interview can be seen at ( http://go-kustom.com/danews.html )
- DSR then took the stage with Los Gatos Locos @ Zak's who came through Seattle for the first time in about 5 years. Our friends the Deadcats were there too and a good time was had by all. It was at this show that Motor Mike really came on strong, finally appearing comfortable with all the songs. All members were on board for this show and we tore the place a new arsehole.
- Last Saturday DSR took over the Freemont Dock for a night of rock'n'roll mayhem. All American Playboys came down from Mukilteo and put on one hell of a show with songs like "I Beat Up Guys Like You (On The Way To Fights)" and "Break My Foot Off In Your Ass" which set the stage perfectly for DSR to come out swinging with an enraged Knuck (yes, female issues again). Moose couldn't make this show and the band once again played as a 3 piece. To solve this issue of having to play as 3/4ths of a band at every other show, DSR has recruited Sickboy Dan on rhythm guitar to AT LEAST cover the shows Moose can't make.
- A possible last minute addition to our shows calendar: DSR may be joining The Spectres and The Hangmen for a show at Stella's in Georgetown on Saturday June 08. Look for an e-mail from the band for an update!
May 14, 2002
- DSR is heading back up to Canada to play the BBQ Bop on Saturday May 18. 7 bands, 4 dj's, a burlesque troupe, classic cars & motorcycles, and door prizes... Don't miss this show! It'll cost ya $15.00 Canadian and goes from 2pm - 2am.
- As stated before; Lucky played his last gig w/ the band on April 26 and will not be joining us on stage for the BBQ Bop. Motor Mike is making great strides in learning the entire set list in anticipation for upcoming gigs. He may or may not be joining us in Canada for this gig but will definitely be on board for the May 25 show @ Stella's, so be sure to come out and welcome him into the fold. If Mike can't make it up to Canada w/ the rest of the band, some of you may be lucky (ha! Lucky!) enough to see a slightly more intimate, one-off, acoustic performance from DSR. Rest assured that the bad attitude will still be prevalent despite the lower volume.
April 30, 2002
- We never dreamed Canada could be so great. The show went well and we got a lot of new fans out of the deal. A big
"thank you" to the Deadcats for not only inviting us to be on the bill, but loaning us all their instruments for the gig. Those
that didn't show up, you missed Lucky's last show w/ the band and a HUGE brawl that resulted in flying chairs and tables.
- We're working w/ Mike to get him up to speed for all the gigs coming up. Can't wait to have the new guy out playing
shows with us.
- DSR has been invited by GO-Kustom Records to record songs for a surf compilation & a compilation paying tribute to
devilish women. Fast Cars & Faster Women is a good contender for the latter of the two. We will also perform & do an
interview for a public access show that is broadcast in WA & Los Angeles. There is also a possibility of DSR performing
in an upcoming B-Movie playing ourselves as well as doing some songs for the soundtrack. More news at 11...
April 25, 2002
- Canada, we're coming for your beer! Consider yourselves warned. Tomorrow afternoon DSR heads up north to visit all the wonderful strip clubs and to rock out with the Deadcats.
- A new song has been completed and the lyrics are available on the Discog page now. We've called this one "Suspicions" and think many people will be able to relate to it.
- Sad news in the DSR camp ladies and germs; but Matt "Lucky" McClusky has decided to call it quits. You'll see him playing a few more shows and then the new guy "Motor" Mike will step up to the plate. Suffice it to say, Lucky will be sorely missed and his solid musicianship will be unequalled. Rest assured that it is an amicable parting and the band has no plans on slowing down.
April 14, 2002
- Last night's show was spectacular. We played with a great new band called Slop Shot that none of us had heard before and were all quite impressed by. The show was high energy and the place was packed. Drag Strip Riot was coming out swinging after 3 months away from the stage. We opened with a new intro, moved right into some surf rock and then kept it going with a new rocker called The Damage Done. Knuck had some technical difficulties with squealing amp tubes, faulty patch cords, etc.but the band just kept playing on. The people came for a show and we were gonna give 'em one, dammit! We can't wait to get up to Canada and show 'em how the USA does it. Hail Hail Rock And Roll!
- A couple new shows were suggested to us last night, so keep your eyes on the shows link for info!
March 25, 2002
- Mixing for the album is progressing slowly but surely. All the band members have chewed their fingernails off in anticipation. We want it to come out as much as you folks do.
- There are talks of Redneck Girlfriend and Drag Strip Riot sharing a stage some time in May. More info will be posted as it is available.
- 3 songs are now available for streaming download from MP3.com. Simply click on the music link on the left and you can hear 3 UN-MIXED versions of the tracks off the upcoming 6 song release.
- Message Board is back up and someone is pretending they are Mike Ness
- Still not a single pin-up or dirty photo has been sent to us. The band is starting to lose faith in our fellow perverts.
March 05, 2002
- Album is all but finished! All that is left now is some final mixing stuff and then the layout and production.
- Message board is down until Bravenet gets their shit together
- We're looking forward to our upcoming shows. We'll be playing with some amazing bands: Rocket 350, The Spectres, Los Gatos Locos, The Fabulous Wailers, and the Deadcats to name a few. Hope to see you all there.
February 24, 2002
Sorry kids... we're canceling the March 02 show at The Dock for 3 reasons:
1) Scheduling conflict
2) The bar doesn't have a PA
3) Graveyard Shift AND Dusty 45's are both playing that night. We'd prefer to have a crowd! The rest of the shows will be played as scheduled and we'll look to set up additional shows in March.
February 20, 2002
- So we're wrapping up the album kids! The vocals are done, the guitars are done and the beers are empty.
We just need to do some back-up vocals and badda-bing... on to world domination.
- Another show has been added (see SHOWS link) in July. We'll be playing the 1st Annual HotRod-A-Rama
with the original Wailers (not the rastafarians of the same name... the garage band!) in Tacoma.
We're looking forward the smell of sweat, beer, and whatever the hell that stench is that permeates out of stink-city.
- Send us pictures you slimes!
February 11, 2002
- Some NEW GIGS have been added in the shows section. Ladies and germs we be goin' to Canadia in April! Anyone who wants to follow us up there, be sure and check the shows section for the dates.
- We tried to knuckle down and just work on new material but we all miss the stage
so it's time to come back and play some shows. So when you see us, expect some new songs.
- Ugh! Delays have ensued regarding our rigorous recording schedule. A few sessions have been pushed back,
people were out of town, etc. Supposedly we will finish all the recording this coming weekend. Keep those sphincters crossed people!
- Also, see updates on Members & member profile pages.
January 28, 2002
The album is coming along great. All the base tracks were completed for our upcoming 6 song EP this passed weekend, leaving vocals and odds and ends left to finish. It took 2 full days and we're all sore but we're very pleased with what we've heard so far. We've not yet been able to decide on a name for the upcoming release so maybe all you folks could submit some ideas.
Send your ideas here: ALBUM TITLE
If we choose your idea we'll personally come to your house with a case of Budweiser (plus a six pack of Sharp's for Frosty), some chips and salsa, and a porn video. And if you don't live in an apartment we'll even play a show. Oh yeah, the beer is for OUR consumption.
January 20, 2002
- The recording did not take place last weekend as anticipated. A week long delay is expected and we will head in on Jan. 25th.
- Lyrics page has been added (click on "Music" link) with some of the songs that people are familiar with.
- Another photo session was done on Sat. Jan. 19 w/ Hunter Kinsey
( http://hkphotography.net/ ). Truly a great guy to work with and an incredible photographer.
- No shows have been booked while we get all this shit done to get a disc put together.
- Still no nude photos submitted but maybe we can coerce some pinup shots? Just a thought!
January 13, 2002
- A change in plans... the band found a better studio to record in and will be doing so on Jan. 18th!
- A photo session was taken at one of Seattle's favorite watering holes on Saturday, Jan. 12 in preparation for our cd jackets.
- We know the photos section of the website is fucked up but we're working on it (we're musicians, not web-guys!)
- Still no nude photos submitted by any fans but the band members are definitely keeping their eyes peeled,
and their legs, er... fingers crossed in anticipation.
January 06, 2002
- Still going strong in the new year, Drag Strip Riot has found the studio to record in.
The band is slated to go into the studio January 26. A small 4-track demo will be recorded in the interim for booking as well as to stir up interest in the 'biz.
- Last Friday's show was an energy packed sweat-fest. Drag Strip Riot was in top form despite a badly injured guitarist, as we ripped out a couple new tunes ("Bartender" and "She's All Talk").
- Moose is still recovering from an accident in the Grave Robber, so if he looks a little doped up on stage as of late there's your explanation.
January 02, 2002
- Happy New Year everyone!
- The band played a short set on New Year's (5 songs) at the Ballard Eagles. It was an impromptu performance as we got word we were on the bill the day of the show.
- We premiered a new song called "She's All Talk" w/ some good response. It's to be hoped we'll have that one along w/ a couple others ready for the Jan. 04 gig (see shows section). Other than that, the band is looking / pricing different studios to record. We should have our decision final very soon.
